WOOD CLAD
If it is the natural beauty of real solid wood you want to introduce to your stairs then you can simply choose how far you want to go with the conversion.
It is totally up to you and we have a vast range of options.
The main timber species predominantly used for staircases are oak, pine, sapele, and walnut. All of which can be coloured and finished in a variety of ways to achieve a desired look.
Depending on the desired look, the treads can be clad in solid timber on their own and risers can be clad in solid timber to match - or perhaps you might like a moisture resistant mdf for a smooth paint finish.
The choice is yours.
IT’S ALL IN THE DETAIL
A complete stair clad can be achieved over an existing painted material to achieve the illusion of a solid grained staircase and newel posts can be changed where possible and veneered at structural points where they have to stay.
In addition, curved bottom treads can be veneer wrapped or added to improve aesthetics.
GLASS & STAINLESS STEEL
We can apply this material to most if not all conversions and NEW stairs.
For a number of years now glass has been widely used in modern design commercially. It is currently very much on trend and in demand in home design.
A simple glass install can be infused in a traditional staircase, where it is constructed exactly the same but the glass replaces the spindles.
This is a perfect minimalist design, no structural newel post with no hand rails, just glass balustrade – stunning.
Stainless steel goes hand in hand with glass in terms of a clean modern look and structural integrity.
Special brackets are incorporated in the support of the glass and stainless steel hand rails can be used for glass mounted hand rails or on an adjacent wall in place of a traditional timber hand rail.
Again you can simply replace the spindles with glass and without the need for newel post and hand rail removal, or you can go to town and adopt a design driven conversion to produce an awe inspiring full scale conversion.
Combine that with complete cladding and a glass & stainless steel balustrade system to totally transform your functional route of access into a stunning focal point that will be admired by many for years to come.
LIGHTS
With the evolution of lighting, LED has broadened the aspect of light design and use.
No longer is the lamp and ceiling light the only option available, we can incorporate your lighting ideas into our stair conversions.
They can be incorporated into the treads, strings and some cases in the hand rails.
NEW STAIRS
This full service starts with a survey to produce 3D computer aided design drawings.
They will show the layout design and exact measures with component and materials chosen and once design has been agreed we can put the stairs into production and fully install to a finish.
The same Evolution Stairs bespoke service that we provide applies with our new staircases.
WOOD FINISHING
For the last ten years we have successfully undertaken many wood finishing and restoration projects that include stripping & polishing, sanding and re-finishing using a wide range of water based and solvent based wood stains oils and lacquers.
We also have the resources for all plastering & decorating requirements that may be associated with any project.
PERIOD RESTORATION
You may have a period home where you want to keep the original style and features of your staircase.
We have this area covered, whether it is a simple redecoration or a strip, sand and seal to expose or restore the original timber, to give it a new lease of life.
Or maybe you’re looking to produce a finished article with exacting standards and detailed requests laid down by heritage and conservation departments?
This can be achieved by having the knowledge and resources to manufacture moulds and components from either architectural drawings or copy like for like from an existing example.
